Finding Your Path: The Career Development Continuum

At the Career Pathway Support Network, we believe that building a meaningful career is a journey that starts from within. Our Career Development Continuum serves as a roadmap to guide individuals from initial discovery to long-term professional success. It begins with Self-Awareness and Agency Development, helping people uncover their unique personal strengths, values, and interests. From there, the journey progresses through four intentional stages: Awareness, where individuals explore potential career interests through classroom learning and guest speakers; Exploration, which brings those pathways to life through job shadowing and mentorships; Preparation, focusing on skill-building, resume readiness, and earning credentials; and finally, Participation, where individuals gain valuable, hands-on experience through internships and apprenticeships. Wherever you are on your career journey, this continuum is designed to give you the tools and confidence to succeed.

The Continuous Advising Framework

The Continuous Advising Framework places the Student at the absolute center of the educational journey, anchoring their growth around their personal Aptitude, Values, Goals, Skills, and Interests. As individuals move forward, they progress through four intentional phases of career development: Awareness (Learning of Work), Exploration (Learning about Work), Preparation (Learning for Work), and Participation (Learning through Work). Rather than treating guidance as a one-time conversation, this model wraps the entire experience in a continuous layer of dedicated advising. By providing consistent mentorship, personalized encouragement, and data-driven support at every single milestone, we ensure that every individual has a reliable partnership to help them confidently take their next step.
